Hair Loss Due To Stress And Hormonal Changes
It is quite normal to experience hair loss due to stress or hormonal changes. Stress can cause hair loss in both men and women. Stress at home, in the work place or because of a bereavement can all contribute to hair loss as is widely believed. Even adolescents and teenagers can experience hair loss if they are under stress or due to the normal hormonal changes that are experienced at that stage in life. The most common type of hair loss due to stress is called telogen effluvium.
Hair growth in this case is dormant for up to eight weeks and hair will eventually fall out. This is believed to be caused due to high stress levels. Stress can also cause your hairs to turn grey. Studies also indicate that stress also increase the rate of male pattern baldness. Hormonal changes can influence hair loss and growth as is commonly observed in the case of pregnancy and in most cases during menopause as well. It is believed that repeated and continuous method of any of these practices over time can possibly cause CCCA.
Traction alopecia is another hair loss condition seen among African American women but not limited to women of all color. This type of hair loss develops from constant pulling from tight braids and ponytails. It is mainly seen at the front of the hairline but is not limited to the sides, nape or other areas of the scalp.
