Pros: Your hair and scalp can get rest from harsh chemicals and reduce hair loss.
Cons: Depending on the texture of your hair and type of alopecia. Combing through the natural hair may cause more pulling thus causing more inflammation and damage to follicles.
Sewn in weave
Pros: this style option can give hair a rest from relaxers and other chemicals.
Cons: Over time hair loss can be progressive. The pulling of tight braids to achieve a sewn in weave will contribute to inflammation of hair follicles. Difficult to cleanse scalp on a regular basis.
Weave on net
Pros: Excellent for giving hair a break from tight sewn in weaves and if you have hair loss at the crown of head or hair is difficult to braid from bald spots.
Cons: Not ideal for someone scalp inflammation that need to avoid any pulling or tension from cornrows.
Lace wigs
Pros: Excellent for giving your bio hair a break from harsh chemicals
Cons:Although there are many adhesives out there for sensitve skin, if you care allergic to adhesive this may not be an ideal choice. However you can get get a medical grade adhesive. Can be costly for some people.
Normal wigs
Pros: can be taken on and off at anytime. Ideal for washing hair often, and rest from chemical and pulling. Note: wigs that contain combs in front and back can also cause inflammation of scalp if the combs are pushed in tight or worn in same area on a consistent basis.
Cons: Limited styling options normally having to wear a bang or hair in face. Not ideal for someone that has sensitive skin.
Shaving it all off
Pros- Great if you can pull it off!
Cons- Not so great if that look is just not for you.
